Royton Town Football Club boasts a robust structure with multiple teams catering to different levels of competition and age groups. Here is an overview of the teams and their respective leagues:

Open Age Teams

  1. First Team: Competes in the Premier League of the Manchester Football League, representing the highest level of competition within the club.
  2. Reserves Team: Participates in Division 3 of the Manchester Football League, serving as a platform for developing players who can step up to the first team.
  3. Royton Town ‘A’ Team: Plays in the Development League of the Manchester Football League, focusing on nurturing younger talent and providing them with competitive match experience.

Youth Teams

  • Under 15s Team: Competes in the North Bury Junior Football League, aiming to develop young players’ skills and prepare them for future senior football.
  • Royton Town Tigers: The club also has several youth teams under the Royton Town Tigers banner, promoting football among various age groups and fostering a love for the game from a young age.

1924

Originally known as Stotts Benham FC, was established in 1924 as the works team for the Stotts Benham manufacturing company. The club experienced early success in the Rochdale Alliance League, winning multiple titles and a treble in the Premier Division.

 

1985

In 1985, the club changed its name to Royton Town FC and continued to perform strongly in regional competitions.

 

1994

In 1994, Royton Town joined the Lancashire Amateur League, marking a significant step up in competition.

 

2001

The club eventually joined the Manchester League in the 2001-2002 season and won the Division One title in their first year.

 

2003

Since then, Royton Town has competed in the Premier Division of the Manchester League, winning the league championship in 2003-2004 and finishing as runner-up in 2015-2016.

 

2022

In May 2022, the U17 team won the league cup, showcasing the club’s success at junior levels.

 

2023

On 31 May 2023, the U16 team also won the league cup, continuing the club’s strong performance in youth competitions.

 

2023

The club introduced its third open age team, which played its inaugural game on 16 September 2023, marking a significant expansion in the club’s structure and participation.
